Turn it and turn it...

Parashat Vayikra

And God called out to Moses... ויקרא Leviticus 1:1

Notice the letter alef is smaller than the rest of the letters of the word vayikra, And God called out... The ancient rabbis say the letter alef, the first letter in anochi, the word I, is diminished in size to teach us that when God calls out to us, we have to humble ourselves to hear the call.

There is a cycle between arrogance and humility that is essential. Only when we have the courage to climb the mountain and believe in ourselves enough to do great things can we accomplish great things. At the same time, without the humility to notice our surroundings and listen to sources of wisdom and good counsel in our midst it is rather difficult to succeed.
