The priest is given authority to determine whether or not a person has tzara'at, is ritually clean or not. While the Torah prescribes what the priest looks for, ultimately the priest makes the determination.
How we assess and label people in our communities impacts how they fare socially in our midst. We can make it harder or easier for people to integrate into our congregation. All Israel is a kingdom of priests, therefore we all share in the responsibility of setting each other up for success whenever possible. Speaking kindly about another person opens doors.
