Parashat Eikev

Remember the long way that the Eternal your God has made you travel in the wilderness these past forty years. (Deut. 8:2)

Remembering where we have been and how we got from there to here in space, and from then to now in time, gives us perspective. Sometimes that perspective is pleasant, we've all come a long way from somewhere else. And, sometimes that perspective is upsetting, life doesn't always unfold the way we had hoped it would. Still, remembering how we got "here" is essential to making the next step. We learn from our successes and our mistakes. In fact, despite the pain, I am certain my mistakes made me stronger and wiser than my accomplishments..
