Parashat Va'etchanan
You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, house, property...or anything that belongs to your neighbor. (Deut. 5:18)
I think that this commandment prohibiting jealousy is the last of the ten commandments because it is the hardest one to practice. If we could just stop coveting what others appear to have from our perspective, the rest of the commandments would be superfluous. Practicing joy for others with regard to what they have and what they accomplish is essential to being a good neighbor, friend, and family member.
